WHO IS THE SERVICE FOR?

Anyone over 16 years of age registered with a GP practice within Hambleton Richmondshire and Whitby.

The patient can book a direct appointment with a Physiotherapist in one of the Heartbeat Alliance Better Access Hubs for a full assessment.

This service is NOT for under 16s or anyone who has already seen their GP about the problem.

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The patient receives a 30-minute appointment with a Physiotherapist for a full assessment.  If the Physiotherapist feels the patient needs further investigation, referral or a course of treatment, this will be arranged directly by the Physiotherapist (in most cases without the need to see their own GP).

 

HOW TO ACCESS THE SERVICE

The patient can be booked in if the patient is otherwise well and is suffering with:

  • Back pain
  • Spinal pain
  • Neck pain
  • Pain in elbow, wrist or hand
  • Shoulder pain on movement
  • Pain in hip, knee or ankle
  • Sports injury
  • Trapped nerve type pain

The patient CANNOT be seen if:

  • Under 16 years of age
  • Generally unwell
  • There has been significant trauma (fall, car accident etc)
  • Serious mental illness
  • Substance misuse
  • Chest pain (call 999)
  • Has a neurological condition (stroke, MS etc)
